Various Flashbacks

· An Internal Apocalypse

Internal analepsis, despite seeming like a digestive disorder, is a literary term for a flashback that is part of your main story. Examples of flashbacks like these are frequent in mysteries and thrillers. In an Agatha Christie book, for instance, it's typical to "flash back" to a scene we've already seen so we may acquire more background information as we discover more about the murder. It's an excellent literary technique for gradually revealing the story's layers.

· Outside Analepsis

This refers to flashbacks that occur outside of the main storyline. A family saga story that begins in the present and then abruptly jumps back to three generations previously, years before the narrative even started, might serve as an illustration.
